The 1982 World Cup held in Spain, was played in 17 venues. Although once again the teams were divided into six groups of four, the semifinal knock-out matches were reinstated. It is considered one of the best World championships, due to the participating players. The Italian team led by great goalkeeper Zoff and brilliant striker Paolo Rossi started slow but ended strong. They beat Argentina, Brazil, Poland and Germany, earning their third star.
